Student Travel Grant Application

The grant from the NSF will enable us to provide student travel grants for PGAS 2011. The NSF funds will enable us to provide travel grants for students studying at institutions in the US (including international students studying in the US). The exact number and amount of the awards will be determined based on the number of eligible applicants and the availability of funds.

IMPORTANT: Travel grant applicants should not register for the conference until hearing the decision on their application. Students who have applied for a travel grant by September 19, 2011 will be allowed to register at the early registration cost until September 24, 2011.

We encourage all students to apply for travel grants. In the application, students are asked to provide the following in one file and send to Yonghong Yan(yanyh@cs.uh.edu)

1.     a curriculum vitae (CV),

2.     a brief statement (approximately 500 words) that includes (i) an explanation of why it is important for them to attend PGAS conference, (ii) a budget regarding their cost of attendance at PGAS, and (iii) a description of any other sources of support they may have,

3.     the name and email address of their advisor or another faculty member that can provide a recommendation (the reference will receive an email to provide a recommendation).

The deadline for applications will be September 19, 2011 - all materials, including the advisor/faculty recommendation, should be received by this date. Applicants will be notified of award status as soon as possible. Please send emails to Yonghong Yan (yanyh@cs.uh.edu) for any questions.
